Intro to Abstract Painting

This workshop is for people to explore abstract art! We'll go over some fundamental ideas in abstract pieces, including basic color theory, perspective, balance, flow, and more. We'll look at some examples of abstract art and discuss why they do or don't work. There will be several activities to inspire and practice creating something without the pressure of it having to look a certain way.​

"Making art can be intimidating, especially when you're bombarded on social media by beautiful, completed artwork. What they don't show is the messy process behind the final product. In this class, we'll embrace the messiness by diving into the abstract, exploring colors, shapes, and mood. This class is designed for any experience level with the goal of playing with materials and experiencing the simple joy of making marks.
